Hello, my name is Tim Dickson and my job is to lead the hardware and support side of the business. This includes the hardware support, software and Operating System training, and the PC, and server, manufacturing and management of the business. My background includes a degree in electronic engineering and over 3 decades of experience with computers at all levels, from writing software when at International Computers Limited (ICL), to running a sucessful IT business which has built and supplied over 850 pc's locally, and supplied and configured many laptops. My work has developed heavily into all aspects of IT and it is on that skill which many of our customers depend.
My continuing interest is with all aspects of operating systems and application software packages. These include the various Windows operating systems, Linux and UNIX. This knowledge complements my electronic engineering training, as many problems either involve both system software and hardware or it may be unclear in which area the problem lies. I enjoy the complex issues which arise in this interaction of hardware and software.
When not busy with office matters I spend my time with my wife and children helping maintain the farm, and going on short walks in our lovely countryside. I enjoy playing the piano and the guitar, composing music, and contributing as a maintainer to a number of packages on slackbuilds.org which provides build scripts for Slackware Linux (see list of packages).
